A shaped slate volume echos the pitched roofs of the existing house.
For their ADU project, a young couple wanted to repurpose an existing storage structure and expand it to allow for multiple uses including an expansive shop space.
Navigating a complex interface between existing and new structures, as well as planning restrictions relative to the setbacks, AyD designed a unique slate-clad volume, with roof and wall treatments detailed to appear seamless.
A series of skylights and high windows allow in ample natural light while screening the shop from the adjacent gardens.
